INTRODUCING......

GILLIAN RICHARDSON (Head Coach)

For the past 7 years, I have worked as a competitive swim coach for a variety of swim clubs across Canada and am currently the Head Coach of the Truro Centurions Swim Club. Prior to that time I was working in Aquatics for the City of London, Ontario, as their Deck Supervisor/Summer Pool Manager at the Canada Games Aquatic Center as well as their Program Supervisor Aquatics at Carling Heights Optimist Community Center. I also have experience as the Head Guard in Brooks, Alberta, at their aquatic facility and for Excel Swim School supervising their learn to swim program.

In 2004-2006 I attended Humber College in their Coaching and Sports Development Program. From this diploma, I have completed my NCCP Level 2 Coach certification as well as Level 3 theory. I also received my Sears I Can Swim Instructor certification as well as HIGH FIVE training. While attending Humber I also gained knowledge in other aspects of sports development such as Program Planning and Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Marketing and Fundraising as well as the physiology and psychology of sports.

The aquatic environment has always played an important role in my life, first as a competitive swimmer and more recently as a competitive swim coach and aquatics deck supervisor. I enjoy being able to share my love of the water with inspiring competitive swimmers and take joy in watching them improve throughout the season. I find working in the aquatics environment an enjoyable and rewarding experience and hope to be able to allow all swimmers to have the same experience. I’m excited about the challenge of working with the ATTAC Team.
